Do you remember Mission Impossible? Well, we have a mission as the body of Christ and it is called the Great Commission. Our mission, should we choose to accept it, involves the spiritual battle for the souls and lives of those that are lost. As always, should any member of our team be caught, remember, no one in our biblically functional family of God fights alone.
The enemy continually tries his schemes, even today, but as children of the Most High God, we are over comers, we are conquerors, we are soldiers, and we are warriors. The enemy might have some strength, but there is more in us because in God, we are victorious and glorious. No weapon formed against us shall prosper. Nations rise and fall on the basis of His word, yet peace and safety are the heritage of those who trust in the Lord. When you are in battle, remember the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard. (Isaiah 52:12) The Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way and will flee before you seven ways. (Deuteronomy 28:7) As for me, you can tell I’m a vet by the mud on my boots; I wouldn’t be here writing this if it were not for the grace and mercy of God – all praise, glory and honor belongs to Him.
Things that are good are worth fighting for and we need to understand that our help is from the Lord, who made the heaven and the earth. If we are to be a biblically functioning community, we must get our lives in balance. To do so, we must understand the importance of acting justly, loving mercifully and walking humbly with God. (Micah 6:8) We should obey God because we want to. We must love one another, care for one another, build up one another, be patient with one another, share one another’s burdens, and forgive one another. Doing life alone is hard; that is why two people are better off than one and three are even better because a strand of three is not easily broken. When we get to a place where we act justly and are fair in our dealings with others; when we love mercifully and meet the needs of others; and when we walk humbly by fellowshipping with God modestly without arrogance, we will know faith in action and we will understand that mercy is love in action.
We are to be the salt and light of this world and our lifestyle should be one that recognizes and reflects who God is. Christianity has become defined more by what we are against than what we are for. We must not only know God’s word; we must do what it says. As for me, I am going to do the things God has called me to do. I am going to treasure God’s word in my heart so that I might not sin against Him.
